Maroon, A4M’s Senior Vice President, and Professor and Vice Chairman of Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Heindl Scholar in Neuroscience. Dr. Maroon explains his insightful research into concussions and appropriate preventative guidelines for sports activities, which led to his development of the “Impact” system, a neurocognitive computer-based assessment that has become the standard of care for many sports organizations, including the NHL and NFL. Dr Maroon also discusses research into nerve growth and stem cells and their relevance to spinal injuries in the field of sports.
