GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Fluoride is added to drinking water, toothpastes, and mouthwashes to prevent dental caries.

ROLE IN ANTI-AGING:

Fluoride is necessary for formation of strong bones and teeth and may protect against osteoporosis.

DEFICIENCY SYMPTOMS: None

THERAPEUTIC DAILY AMOUNT:

No RDA has been established.

MAXIMUM SAFE LEVEL:

Do not take additional fluoride.

SIDE EFFECTS/CONTRAINDICATIONS: Side effects are only evident in fluoride overdose.

SOLUBILITY: Fluoride salts are water soluble
