Active Body Means a Sharp Mind for Seniors

Octogenarians who stay active are more likely to keep their wits about them than seniors who opt for a more sedentary lifestyle, results of a recent study suggest. The study of 106 seniors revealed that those who were the most physically active were better able to focus at the task in hand and less likely to become distracted.

The study of 106 seniors revealed that those who were the most physically active were better able to focus at the task in hand and less likely to become distracted. Meanwhile, results of a second study found a similar association between physical activity and focusing ability, however only in men. Study leader Sean Deeny suspects that physical activity could help to preserve brain function by increasing blood flow and oxygenation the brain.
