The top four causes of cancer and steps that can be taken to take to avoid it

Read on to learn about the top four causes of cancer, and how to avoid becoming part of the 41% of Americans that will develop it during their lifetime.i

Cause #1: Chronic Inflammation

Chronic inflammation causes damage to your cells, DNA, and tissues, and creates the perfect environment for cancerous cells to grow, multiply and spread.ii

The Solution

  • Obtain a healthy body weight

  • Exercise for 30+ minutes daily and consume a whole foods based diet

  • Avoid cigarettes and alcohol

  • Address allergies and food intolerances

  • Reduce stress

Cause #2: Ongoing Stress

Stress increases inflammation, activates signaling pathways that lead to tumor growth; and reduces your immune system’s ability to detect and eliminate cancer cells.iiiiv

The Solution

  • Aim for at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night

  • Maintain a positive mental outlook, and make human connection a priority in your daily life v

  • Laugh, meditate, practice yoga, cuddle, and have more sex

  • Learn to ask for help and to say no without guilt

  • Plan your day ahead of time and avoid taking on too much

Cause #3: Meat and Dairy Products

Animal products increase your cancer risk by triggering inflammation, by exposing you to antibiotics that kill off healthy, cancer-fighting microflora; and by causing estrogen dominance (which increases the risk for breast and prostate cancer).vivii

The Solution

  • If completely eliminating animal products is unpractical for you, limit your intake to 2-3 small servings a week

  • Consume only organic animal products

  • Eat a high fiber diet, with at least 12 servings of vegetables daily to help reduce toxic estrogens, and to offset the inflammatory effects of animal products

Cause #4: Carcinogens

Carcinogens are cancer causing substances found in our food, water, air, medications, personal care products, cookware, furnishings, and cleaning products…to name a few.viiiix

The Solution

  • Choose organic foods and cosmetics whenever possible

  • Use a water purifier for your tap and your shower

  • Use vinegar, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide in place of chemical cleaning products
