Making injections less painful is easy, according to Keith Denker M.D., all you have to do is pop the needles in the icebox and freeze them. Ice packs and freezing sprays are often used to help numb the pain associated with injections, so Denker decided to find whether freezing the needles would have the same effect.

Ice packs and freezing sprays are often used to help numb the pain associated with injections, so Denker decided to find whether freezing the needles would have the same effect. Each of the 77 patients in the study received one injection with a needle that had been frozen overnight, and another with a needle at room temperature, neither Denker nor the patients were aware of which of the needles were cold. 77% of patients reported that the cold injections were less painful, 18% said that they were more painful, and 5% said there was no difference.
