Cord blood stem cells expanded a huge tenfold--could impact cord blood banking and stem cell transplants

Science reports that a Canadian team has been able to expand, or replicate, cord blood stem cells ten times over. This–in addition to other recent studies finding that blood stem cells, from adult or cord–has major ramification for bone marrow transplants, and the cord blood banking field. For women giving birth, the pressure may be off to clamp the cord early, as well. Links to many papers can be found in this article:
