Scientists have come out and stated that carbon nanotubes may prove to be just as harmful as asbestos in terms of putting people at risk of developing cancer.

Scientists have come out and stated that carbon nanotubes may prove to be just as harmful as asbestos in terms of putting people at risk of developing cancer.

Scientists have reported the findings of their study in the journal Nature Nanotechnology.

The study looked into the risks associated with long and short-term exposure to carbon nanotubes.

The results of the study revealed that certain long-thin carbon nanotubes are just as harmful as asbestos in regards to posing a serious risk for developing cancer of the lung.

The researchers concluded in the study that long and thin carbon nanotubes were just as dangerous, and showcased the same effects as asbestos filters.

On the other hand, the study found short or curly carbon nanotubes to be safer than asbestos, meaning carbon nanotubes can be made to be safe.
