With age endurance declines in part because blood vessels lose some of the capacity to deliver nutrients and oxygen to muscle tissue. Researcher claim to have found how to reverse this age related loss in mice by treating them with a compounds which promotes growth of new blood vessels, finding that the compound boosted endurance of elderly mice by as much as 80%. If these findings can be translated to humans restoration of muscle mass may combat some effects of age related frailty which can lead to debilitating conditions.
