Vitamin B3, niacin, is shown to assist with the recovery of brain function, in a lab animal model of stroke.
Michael Chopp, from Henry Ford Hospital (Michigan, USA), and colleagues have found that a treatment of Vitamin B3 (niacin) helped blood vessel growth and generation of new neurons, in a lab animal model of ischemic stroke – the most common type of stroke among humans. The hospital is now testing vitamin B3 treatments on people who have suffered a stroke.
