Scientists may have found a way to remove debris from the human eye which occurs during aging, according to reports.

By using a high-output camera to film the back of an 80-year-old man's eye, researchers have discovered that a nutraceutical matrix can remove cellular fragments from the eye and improve eyesight.

Dr Stuart Richer from the Veterans Medical Center in North Chicago believes this discovery can help reverse the negative effects of aging on the retina.

While the patient commented that his night vision and mental capacity had improved since the study, more research needs to be done into whether scientists can stop the human eye from deteriorating through age.

Dr Richer said: "While only one case, these patients do not have time to wait for controlled long-term studies and 'best available evidence' needs to be employed, given there are no foreseeable side effects or undue cost."ADNFCR-1506-ID-18666496-ADNFCR
