There are three main types of stroke. An ischemic stroke is the most common type of stroke and is caused by a clot or other blockage within an artery leading to the brain. An intracerebral hemorrhage is a stroke caused by a sudden rupture of an artery within the brain. This type is known as bleeding in the brain or hemorrhage.
