Celebrities Suffer Drug and Alcohol Addiction

Drug and Alcohol Addiction has evolved to become not only a personal problem but a community problem, which needs all our efforts to fight. Think of it. Just recently (Feb 2nd 2014) we lost Phillip Hoffman to narcotics addiction- overdose of heroin. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Heath Ledger, Cory Monteith, Marilyn Monroe……. And the list goes on. Rem these guys? Yes, these are great names and stars with audience the world over. Just like Phillip Hoffman, Whitney Houston died of drug overdose. Why are these celebrities dying of drugs and drug overdose?
Do we blame their upbringing? Religion, fame or just wasteful lifestyle? There are a lot of reasons that drive people into addiction. Furthermore for these celebrities, we could say it’s sometimes hard to deal with fame. But yet, some of them go into using drugs at a very tender age even before gaining the celebrity status. Like the Case of Hoffman, he was into addiction right from college even before he started acting. While people may independently start using drugs, some situations sets grounds for using drugs. Trauma, high-level stress and environmental factors are just but a few triggers of drug usage. Once these celebrities are into addiction, it becomes so chronic to an extent that even with obvious consequences and risks involved. Let’s see some facts about Drug and Alcohol Addiction.
